Mary Bartelme Park Hosts 15th Annual Tree & Menorah Lighting Celebration on Near West Side
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Near West Side ·
Near West Side residents are gathering this Thursday evening at Mary Bartelme Park for the neighborhood's cherished 15th annual tree and menorah lighting ceremony. The festive community celebration at 115 S. Sangamon Street will transform the park into a winter wonderland, with the official lighting ceremony beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Families can enjoy live holiday music performed by students from the Merit School of Music, complimentary holiday cupcakes, and hot cocoa. Children will have the opportunity to meet Santa, while the celebration also features an indoor holiday market showcasing 16 local vendors. Additional activities include a holiday scavenger hunt, festive photo stations, and caroling throughout the evening.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the event's community spirit by bringing new or gently used winter accessories to contribute to the neighborhood's annual Warmth Drive benefiting local shelters. For more information about volunteering or participating in future community events, residents can contact the West Central Association or visit the park's website.
