Las Tablas Owner Breaks Ground on Cultural Center and Mixed-Use Development in Irving Park
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Irving Park ·
Irving Park residents are witnessing exciting progress as Las Tablas Colombian Steakhouse owner Soraya Campos begins construction on an ambitious mixed-use development at 4920 W. Irving Park Road. The four-story project, designed by Aria Group Architects, will transform the current restaurant location and two adjacent vacant lots into a vibrant community hub featuring a new restaurant space, cultural center, and 18 residential apartments.
The development will include one and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 900 to 1,100 square feet, with each unit featuring private balconies. The brick and masonry building, estimated to cost $9.5 million, has been progressing on schedule since breaking ground this spring. According to project timelines, the restaurant portion is expected to open by the end of 2025, with the remainder of the project completed in early 2026. The cultural center, which will celebrate Colombian heritage and arts, represents what Campos describes as a "big dream" she has long envisioned for the property.
Both the Six Corners and Portage Park chambers of commerce have voiced strong support for the proposal, recognizing its potential to enhance the neighborhood's cultural landscape while providing new housing options. Neighbors interested in learning more about the development can contact Las Tablas directly or attend upcoming community meetings hosted by Alderman James Gardiner.
