By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Edgewater ·
Edgewater residents with an interest in local culture and humor have a special opportunity this Saturday, December 13, as the Chicago History Book Group meets at the Edgewater Branch Library. The 10:00 a.m. gathering in the Betty A. Barclay Community Room will feature a lively discussion of Margaret Hicks' 'Chicago Comedy: a Fairly Serious History,' exploring the city's rich comedic legacy.
The event continues the Edgewater Historical Society's tradition of engaging community programming, complementing their current museum exhibitions which include 'Growing Community: Luxembourgers in Edgewater' and a tribute to influential women in local history. The Historical Society reminds residents that their museum at 5358 N. Ashland Avenue remains open Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m., featuring additional exhibits on Edgewater's unique heritage.
Community members interested in attending this free event can find the library at 6000 N. Broadway. For those who can't attend but want to engage with Edgewater's history, the Society's website offers searchable archives of newsletter articles and tour booklets dating back to 1988, providing a valuable resource for residents interested in exploring the neighborhood's rich past.
