Edgewater Expands Annual Holiday Card Program to Reach More Seniors This Season
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Edgewater ·
The Season's Greetings Card Giving Program, a cherished holiday tradition in Edgewater, has returned for another year with expanded reach. This collaborative initiative between the Chicago Public Library's Edgewater Branch and Edgewater Village Chicago connects community members with seniors in nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout Andersonville, Uptown, Edgewater, and Rogers Park neighborhoods.
Building on previous years' success since its 2020 inception, the program invites residents to participate by creating or donating holiday cards until December 15th. "Following the successes of the last few years, we're repeating the project again this year!" notes organizer Katy Linehan, librarian at the Edgewater Branch. The initiative has grown significantly, with volunteers each year sharing the joy of giving to an increasing number of senior facilities across the North Side. Community members interested in participating can contact the Edgewater Branch Library for details on how to contribute to this heartwarming neighborhood tradition that strengthens intergenerational connections during the holiday season.
