XS Tennis Expands Washington Park Footprint with New Residential Units on South Dearborn
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Washington Park ·
Washington Park residents will soon see more housing options as XS Tennis continues its neighborhood expansion with two new residential buildings on South Dearborn Street. The organization recently secured permits from the city on December 16 and 17 for two identical three-story apartment buildings at 5408 and 5410 South Dearborn Street, each containing two residential units and two-car detached garages with rooftop decks.
The stylish homes will feature open wood porches on the first and second stories connected by stairways, with third-level roof decks and pergolas for upper-unit residents. AP Architects LLC of Northbrook is designing the project, while XS Tennis, through their Center Court Construction entity, serves as general contractor. These two buildings will join a similar structure at 5412 South Dearborn that was permitted earlier this year, creating a cohesive residential cluster in the neighborhood.
The development is ideally located just one block northwest of the Garfield Boulevard/State Street intersection, with convenient access to CTA Routes 29 and 55 bus stops. Residents will be within a quarter-mile of the Garfield Red Line platform and have easy connections to the Green Line. The expansion reflects XS Tennis founder Kamau Murray's ongoing commitment to Washington Park, where he has stated the organization has "become an anchor and you become largely responsible for trying to move the rest of the neighborhood forward." Community members interested in tracking this development can attend the Washington Park Advisory Council's monthly meetings for updates on this and other neighborhood improvement projects.
