Lillstreet Art Center Celebrates Golden Anniversary with Holiday Bash and Documentary Premiere

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Ravenswood ·

A beloved Ravenswood cultural institution marks a remarkable milestone this week as Lillstreet Art Center celebrates its 50th anniversary with a festive holiday party on Friday, December 5 from 5-8pm. Founded in 1975, the center has evolved from a small ceramics studio into Ravenswood's 40,000-square-foot creative hub at 4401 N. Ravenswood Avenue.

The family-friendly celebration will feature complimentary refreshments, live music, open studios, and the premiere of "Dream a Lill: 50 Years of Molding Makers," a documentary by Chicago filmmaker Gabriel Cuillier chronicling the center's remarkable journey. Visitors can also experience "The Holiday Table" exhibition showcasing functional ceramics, jewelry, textiles, and gift items from over 50 craft artists from the Lillstreet community and around the US, running through December 31. "This event is festive, family-friendly and open to the public," notes the center's promotional materials.

Ravenswood residents looking for unique holiday gifts while supporting local artists are encouraged to attend this milestone celebration that honors Lillstreet's half-century of nurturing creativity in Chicago. The center will also host Saturday jewelry trunk shows throughout December, including a showcase of Carrie Haase's geometric gemstone jewelry on December 20, providing additional opportunities to find handcrafted treasures this holiday season.
