Intuit Art Museum's 'Catalyst' Exhibit Enters Final Week in West Town

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Town ·

West Town art enthusiasts have just one week left to experience the acclaimed "Catalyst: Im/migration and Self-Taught Art in Chicago" exhibition at the renovated Intuit Art Museum before it closes on January 11, 2026. The exhibit, which has drawn visitors from across Chicago since the museum's grand reopening last year, showcases the work of self-taught artists through the lens of immigration and cultural identity.

The exhibition is housed in Intuit's dramatically transformed space, which underwent a

0 million renovation that tripled its exhibition area to 18,000 square feet. The museum, formerly known as the Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art, reopened after a 20-month renovation with a new name and expanded mission to highlight self-taught artists. Visitors can explore more than 90 paintings, sculptures, prints and mixed-media works by 22 Chicago artists, including powerful pieces like Carlos Barberena's sociopolitically charged linocut "Riding the Beast" and Genya "Jennie" Siporin's Chagall-like watercolor "Yoshke Goes Away" based on a Yiddish folk song.

West Town residents are encouraged to visit the museum in its final exhibition days, which also provides an opportunity to explore the museum's permanent collection featuring Chicago artists like Wesley Willis and Lee Godie. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11am to 6pm, with admission free for those under 24 or unable to pay.
