Tung & Cheek Hospitality Group to Launch New North Center Gastro Pub in Former Alexander's Space
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/North Center ·
North Center's dining scene is set to get a delicious addition this month as the recently formed Tung & Cheek Hospitality Group announces plans to transform the former Alexander's location at Montrose and Western into a community-focused gastro pub.
The new concept, scheduled to open January 15, 2026, will feature a carefully curated menu blending European techniques with Japanese influences, including signature dishes like crispy taters with black walnut aioli and a selection of shareable small plates. The beverage program will showcase local craft beers from neighborhood favorites like Begyle Brewing, alongside classic cocktails and spirit-free options.
"We wanted to create a comfortable space that honors North Center's strong community connections while offering something fresh," said Derrick Tung, founding partner of Tung & Cheek Hospitality. North Center Chamber of Commerce representatives have welcomed the announcement, noting that such establishments help strengthen the neighborhood's reputation as a culinary destination. Residents eager to experience the new venue can follow updates on the Chamber's website, with grand opening celebrations planned to include live music and community activities.
