Historic Lincoln Gardens Set for 2026 Revitalization as Popular Schneider Deli Announces Lincoln Park Location
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Lincoln Park ·
Lincoln Park residents will soon enjoy a revitalized historic neighborhood space as plans for the Lincoln Gardens and Meadows renovation project move forward for 2026. The ambitious restoration will include site preparation, repairs, and installation of new, wider concrete pathways beginning next year, with additional features including new trees, plantings, seating, lighting, and wayfinding signage to be added throughout 2026 and 2027.
The project centers around one of the neighborhood's most treasured landmarks – the world-famous statue of Abraham Lincoln created by renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1887. The revitalization efforts will enhance the area surrounding this historic monument while preserving its significance in the community, creating a more welcoming space for residents and visitors alike in this culturally rich area that neighbors institutions like the Graham Foundation, the Junior League of Chicago, and the Chicago History Museum.
In other exciting neighborhood news, Chicago's beloved Schneider Deli has announced plans to open a new Lincoln Park location in early 2026. The popular Jewish deli will expand northward to 1733 North Halsted Street, where husband-and-wife owners Jake and Ariel Schneider will operate a larger 2,000-square-foot space with double the seating capacity of their original River North location. Beyond their hand-sliced brisket and bubbe-approved latkes that have earned them a cult following since 2023, the new all-day outpost will feature a full coffee and espresso program using locally-roasted beans from Metropolis Coffee Company.
