Stockyard Stitchers Club Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Special January Gathering
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Mckinley Park ·
McKinley Park residents with a passion for textile arts will have an opportunity to connect at the first Stockyard Stitchers Club meeting of 2026, scheduled for Monday, January 5, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the McKinley Park branch of the Chicago Public Library. The popular community gathering invites neighbors to bring their knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and sewing projects for a casual evening of creativity and conversation over tea.
The January meeting marks a special milestone as the club enters its tenth year, coinciding with the McKinley Park News' decade of local publishing. "This club has become a vital community hub where neighbors share not just crafting techniques, but also forge lasting friendships," explained Maria Gutierrez, a longtime club member who has attended meetings since 2020. The group welcomes participants of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artisans, and provides a warm, supportive environment for anyone interested in textile arts.
Residents looking to start their new year with creativity and community connection are encouraged to attend the January 5 gathering at 1915 W. 35th Street. Those requiring accessibility assistance can contact the library at (312) 747-8184 or email [email protected] at least 14 business days before the event.
