T.J. Maxx to Open New Lincoln Park Location in Major North Avenue Retail Renovation

Lincoln Park shoppers will have a new retail destination to explore as T.J. Maxx has announced plans to open a store in the neighborhood. The national apparel and home goods retailer recently signed a 10-year lease for 26,000 square feet of street-level retail space at 939 W. North Ave., with the store expected to open in fall 2026.

The project, led by MCZ Development and Farpoint Development, includes a complete modernization of the existing building featuring upgraded structures, contemporary amenities, and larger floor-to-ceiling windows designed to enhance the shopping experience. The North Avenue location, which already hosts tenants including Fitness Formula Clubs, Iteld Plastic Surgery, and Urban Oasis, is situated along a vibrant retail corridor home to popular brands like Lululemon, Nordstrom Rack, Sephora, and Crate & Barrel.

Developers cited Lincoln Park's high foot traffic, walkable neighborhood setting, access to public transit, and on-site covered parking as key factors that made this location attractive to the retailer. The new T.J. Maxx will join approximately seven existing locations already operating throughout Chicago, including one about two miles away near Clark Street and Diversey Parkway. Residents looking forward to the new shopping option can watch the renovation progress throughout 2026, adding yet another reason to explore the dynamic North Avenue shopping district.
