Oakland's Bark N Bubbles Doggy Day Spa Awarded $95,000 City Grant for Cottage Grove Expansion
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Oakland ·
Oakland residents and their four-legged friends have reason to celebrate as Bark N Bubbles Doggy Day Spa on Cottage Grove Avenue has been awarded a significant grant through the city's recent $33 million community development initiative. The pet grooming business located at 4457 S. Cottage Grove Ave. was among 58 neighborhood improvement projects selected from nearly 400 applications by the Department of Planning and Development (DPD).
Commissioner Ciere Boatright announced the awards at a packed event at the Cultural Center, highlighting how these investments will "enhance the livability and vitality of commercial corridors across the city." The projects were selected based on criteria including project readiness, financial need, neighborhood impact, and development team diversity to ensure "catalytic and equitable allocations of the City's resources." This investment represents another positive step in Oakland's ongoing revitalization journey. In recent years, the neighborhood has been making a strong comeback with newly built single-family homes and multi-unit constructions enhancing its quiet residential streets.
Residents interested in learning more about other development opportunities can apply for the next round of Community Development Grants and Neighborhood Opportunity Fund programs, with applications due by February 13, 2026. These programs use downtown construction fees to support small business and cultural projects that contribute to increasing vitality within South Side commercial corridors like Oakland.
