Vittum Park's Winter Programs Bring Garfield Ridge Residents Together During January Chill

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Garfield Ridge ·

Garfield Ridge residents are finding warmth in community connection this January through expanded winter programming at Vittum Park. The 13.31-acre neighborhood park launched its 2026 winter session on January 5, offering a variety of indoor and outdoor activities designed to keep community members active during Chicago's coldest months.

The park's fieldhouse has become a hub of activity with programs scheduled through March 15, featuring options for all ages including Tuesday through Friday daytime sessions and specialized Wednesday and Friday afternoon activities. "Finding a winter program that challenges your body, mind, or both" is the Chicago Park District's invitation to Garfield Ridge families, with spots still remaining in many classes. The modern facility, which includes a gymnasium, kitchen and meeting rooms, provides a welcome indoor retreat while still maintaining connection to the neighborhood.

Residents interested in participating can register online or in person for programs running through mid-March. The expanded winter offerings are part of the Chicago Park District's citywide initiative to keep communities active and engaged even when temperatures drop, with Park District Superintendent Carlos Ramirez-Rosa emphasizing that providing affordable programming year-round remains a top priority for neighborhood parks like Vittum.
