Ancient Grounds Coffee Expands with Flagship West Loop Location, Bringing Unique 'Cereal Lattes' to Van Buren Street
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Loop ·
West Loop residents have an exciting new coffee destination to explore this month as Ancient Grounds Coffee prepares to open its flagship location at 1050 W Van Buren Street. The popular North Side coffee shop, known for its creative 'cereal lattes' featuring flavors like Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Honey Nut Cheerios, is expected to welcome customers by late January or early February 2026.
Co-owner James Brott, who launched the coffee company with business partners Paul Garyait and Joseph Sledge in 2022, told What Now Chicago they're putting final touches on the space that will showcase their unique coffee creations in a prime West Loop location. This marks the third location for the growing brand, which started on Belmont Avenue before expanding to Jefferson Park last November.
The timing coincides perfectly with a busy winter season in the area, as nearby indoor markets and community events draw visitors to West Loop and surrounding neighborhoods. Residents looking for a warm specialty coffee can combine their visit to Ancient Grounds with weekend stops at seasonal markets, including the South Loop Winter Farmers Market, which will feature local artisans, fresh produce, and live entertainment throughout January. The coffee shop's arrival further solidifies West Loop's reputation as a hub for innovative food and beverage concepts.
