Humboldt Park Secures $2.3 Million for New Community Justice Center on North Avenue

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Humboldt Park ·

The Humboldt Park neighborhood is set to welcome a transformative new resource with the Chicago Community Justice Foundation (CCJF) receiving a $2.3 million grant to create an $8.5 million center at 3841-49 W. North Avenue. The facility will house agencies providing legal, mental health, educational and workforce development services to area residents.

The Foundation, formed to address gaps in justice-oriented services available on Chicago's west side, already provides free legal services to individuals who need assistance navigating the legal system. The organization helps remove barriers to employment, housing, and transportation while offering services including criminal conviction expungement, driver's license assistance, and support with domestic violence protection orders.

In other neighborhood news, the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance recently received funding for their "Colores del Barrio" program, which will bring youth painting and public art workshops to Humboldt Park. Residents interested in learning more about either initiative can attend upcoming community meetings or visit the organizations' websites. The next submission deadline for similar Community Development Grants is February 13, 2026, for those looking to propose new neighborhood improvement projects.
