Luxury Bathhouse Project Secures Full Building Permit, Set to Transform West Loop Wellness Scene

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Loop ·

The West Loop wellness landscape is about to get a luxurious upgrade as the highly anticipated Bathhouse project at 8 N. Morgan Street has secured its full building permit as of January 2, 2026. Construction is already well underway on the three-story, 40,000-square-foot spa developed by Fulton Street Companies and designed by renowned architectural firm Gensler.

The New York-based Bathhouse's first location outside of NYC will feature three indoor pools with hot, cold, and salt water experiences, alongside various saunas and treatment rooms. The brick-clad structure with rounded corners and opaque glazing will also include a rooftop restaurant and pool, adding another distinctive amenity to the vibrant neighborhood. "The Chicago Bathhouse will be an inclusive, neighborhood amenity in Fulton Market, accessible to all through daily guest passes," noted Brett Taylor, Gensler's principal-in-charge on the project.

West Loop residents and wellness enthusiasts can look forward to experiencing this unique urban oasis later in 2026. The project represents an exciting transformation of a former surface parking lot into a community asset that enhances the neighborhood's growing reputation as a destination for innovative lifestyle concepts. Those interested in learning more about this development can visit the West Loop Community Organization website for updates as construction progresses.
