West Englewood Launches Urban Earth Corps Program to Create Green Job Opportunities for Residents
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Englewood ·
West Englewood residents will soon benefit from a groundbreaking workforce development initiative as Grow Greater Englewood launches its first-ever Urban Earth Corps cohort this February. The innovative program aims to create pathways to environmental careers while improving quality of life in the neighborhood.
The Urban Earth Corps will provide comprehensive training in environmental science, landscape architecture, construction, gardening and agriculture. Participants will also develop wellness, advocacy, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy skills. This initiative builds upon the ongoing development of the Englewood Agro-Eco District, which includes the highly anticipated Englewood Nature Trail set to begin construction in 2026.
"This program will jump start several grassroots operations while building up small businesses," explains Anton Seals Jr., Lead Steward of Grow Greater Englewood. West Englewood residents interested in applying for the Urban Earth Corps can visit the Grow Greater Englewood website for information about the application process and upcoming information sessions. The program represents another step in transforming the neighborhood through community-led environmental initiatives.
