Streeterville residents gathered at Harry Caray's Sports Museum in Water Tower Place on January 28 for the SOAR Annual Meeting, where the community organization unveiled exciting plans for the neighborhood's 2026 calendar. Under the theme "SOARing Into the Future," the meeting brought neighbors together to reflect on achievements and collaborate on upcoming initiatives.
The Streeterville Organization of Active Residents (SOAR), celebrating over 50 years of community advocacy since its 1975 founding, announced plans for its popular Farmers Market returning to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Plaza. While currently closed for the winter season, organizers confirmed they will soon announce 2026 opening dates, continuing their tradition of offering fresh produce, baked goods, and flowers every Tuesday. The organization also revealed new community engagement initiatives including expanded volunteer opportunities through their various task forces focusing on safety, land development, and neighborhood beautification.
"Membership with SOAR shows your commitment to Streeterville, and gives you a voice within our community," said a representative during the meeting. Residents interested in contributing to neighborhood improvements are encouraged to join one of SOAR's many task forces or attend their February events, which will be announced soon on their website. The organization continues to advocate for pedestrian-friendly design, green spaces, and supporting local businesses that "keep Streeterville a neighborhood."
