Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago Announces Free Second Saturday Program for Streeterville Families
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Streeterville ·
Streeterville's cultural beacon, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (MCA), is expanding its community outreach with a new Free Second Saturday program running through May 2026. The initiative invites neighborhood families to participate in complimentary activities on the second Saturday of each month, beginning February 8th.
The program builds on MCA's commitment to accessibility, which already includes free admission for Illinois residents on Tuesday evenings from 5-9 PM and year-round free admission for visitors under 18. The museum continues to showcase groundbreaking exhibitions, including Yoko Ono's comprehensive retrospective "Music of the Mind" which features over 200 works across various media and encourages visitor participation through interactive artworks. The exhibition, which has drawn significant attendance to Streeterville, remains on view through February 22nd.
"Our goal is to connect with the community by extending our programmatic and educational functions," said an MCA representative. Streeterville residents are encouraged to take advantage of this new family-focused offering, participate in the museum's vibrant cultural programming, and experience the diverse exhibitions that have made the MCA a cornerstone of Chicago's contemporary art scene for over five decades.
