West Englewood Mental Health Clinic Launches New Healing Arts Program This Sunday
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Englewood ·
West Englewood residents will gain access to innovative mental health resources this Sunday as the Englewood West 63rd Street Mental Health Clinic debuts the 2026 season of Healing Arts Chicago. The free program offers a unique blend of creative wellness activities including yoga, sound meditation, writing workshops, and collaborative mural building to support community mental health and well-being.
The initiative, which runs February 9 through April 3, represents part of the Chicago Department of Public Health's targeted effort to address health disparities in West Englewood. "This program creates alternative ways of thinking and models that embed into already structured systems," explains one of the program's artist-practitioners. The clinic, located at 641 W. 63rd Street, will host weekly sessions led by a new cohort of artist-community health workers who completed specialized training at Malcolm X College, combining creative approaches with formal health certifications.
West Englewood residents interested in participating can register online through the CDPH website or visit the clinic in person. Classes accommodate various experience levels and physical abilities, with materials provided free of charge. The initiative builds on previous success, with participants reporting development of new coping mechanisms, calming techniques, and improved daily wellness practices.
