Free Heart Health Screenings Coming to Garfield Park on February 21

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Garfield Ridge ·

Garfield Ridge residents looking to take charge of their cardiovascular health will have a special opportunity later this month when the Chicago Department of Public Health brings free heart screenings to Garfield Park on February 21. The event will offer blood pressure checks, lifestyle risk assessments, and heart rate screenings at no cost to participants.

The initiative is part of CDPH's broader commitment to addressing health disparities across Chicago communities. In addition to the screenings, health department representatives will be on-site to provide information about their comprehensive services, including chronic disease prevention programs, mental health resources, and the Resource Coordination Hub that connects residents with additional support services. Local organizers encourage residents to take advantage of this free opportunity, particularly those who haven't had a heart health check in the past year.

Community members interested in attending don't need appointments – simply show up at Garfield Park during event hours. For those unable to attend on February 21, similar screenings will be available at Warren Park on February 26 and Ogden Park on February 27. For more information about this and other community health initiatives, residents can contact the CDPH Resource Hub at 312-746-4835.
