McKinley Park Community Play Garden to Showcase New Mural Selected by Residents
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Mckinley Park ·
McKinley Park residents will have a vibrant new addition to their neighborhood as a community-selected mural is set to brighten the McKinley Community Play Garden. The McKinley Park Development Council recently announced plans for the artistic enhancement, inviting residents to participate in the selection process by voting on the final design.
The project reflects the neighborhood's commitment to community-driven development, with Council representatives noting that 'McKinley Park's park spaces are some of the best in Chicago' and deserve continued enhancement through public art initiatives. The new mural aims to foster 'equitable and accessible development' while creating inclusive spaces that celebrate the area's cultural diversity. In addition to the upcoming mural installation, McKinley Park businesses, community groups, and artists are collaborating on another exciting initiative – the McKinley Park Pop Ups scheduled for Saturday, September 6 from 12-6PM along 35th Street, promising 'free fun for the whole family.'
Residents interested in voting on the mural design or learning more about community art initiatives can follow the McKinley Park Development Council on social media or visit their website at mpdcchicago.org. The voting period runs through September 12th, with installation expected later this fall as part of ongoing neighborhood beautification efforts.
