Casa Yucatán Construction Advances: 98 Affordable Homes Coming to Pilsen by Fall 2026

Construction is making steady progress on Casa Yucatán, a 98-unit affordable housing development in Pilsen. The eight-story building, located at 2136 S. Ashland Avenue across from Benito Juarez High School, will offer one, two, and three-bedroom apartments with rents ranging from $551 to

768 a month. The development will include 2,500 square feet of community space featuring a multipurpose room, mail room, and a training center, along with on-site management, laundry facilities, and storage.

Funded through a combination of private and public investments, including support from the Illinois Department of Affordable Housing and

5.8 million in city funds, Casa Yucatán aims to address Pilsen's rising housing costs. The development is designed to help working families remain in the neighborhood, where rental costs increased by 40 percent between 2015 and 2023. City officials have described it as a "truly affordable" development that will welcome back residents who have been priced out of the community. "We are proud to continue our work to create healthy and vibrant communities where families can stay and grow and thrive and make their dreams a reality," said Raul Raymundo, CEO of The Resurrection Project, the organization behind the development. Casa Yucatán is expected to open for residents late next fall.
