Innovative 'Prompt and Prompted' Exhibition Transforms Books into Art at Hyde Park Art Center
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Hyde Park ·
Hyde Park residents have a new reason to visit the neighborhood's iconic art institution this February. The Hyde Park Art Center launched its latest exhibition, "Prompt and Prompted" by multimedia artist Yoonshin Park, which opened on January 24 and will run through May 10, 2026.
The innovative exhibition reimagines what books can be, presenting them as "spatial, symbolic and participatory sites" rather than traditional reading materials. Park's artwork engages with themes of memory, marginality, translation, and transformation through her creative interpretations of artist books. "I can no longer see. Whose story remains," reads one of Park's thought-provoking pieces that challenges visitors to reconsider conventional notions of storytelling and documentation.
Community members are encouraged to experience this unique exhibition at the Hyde Park Art Center, located at 5020 S. Cornell Avenue. The center is free and open to the public seven days a week, making art accessible to everyone in the neighborhood. With regular programming including artist talks and interactive events, this exhibition offers Hyde Park residents a perfect opportunity to engage with contemporary art and support one of the community's most vital cultural institutions during the winter months.
