Taste 222 Hosts Trivia Night as West Loop Celebrates Final Days of Chicago Black Restaurant Week

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Loop ·

West Loop foodies have one more weekend to enjoy the special offerings of Chicago Black Restaurant Week, running through February 22. The annual celebration, now in its 11th year, features 39 Black-owned businesses across Chicagoland, including West Loop's own Taste 222, which is offering entrées at reduced prices ending in 26 cents for 2026.

Taste 222 Manager Kelley shared that the event helps "solidify our identity" as a Black-owned restaurant while providing neighborhood residents the opportunity to enjoy signature dishes like steak frites, chicken and waffles, and blackened catfish at special prices. The restaurant is planning a fitting conclusion to the celebration with a Black History Month-themed trivia night on February 23, organized in partnership with Chicago Black Restaurant Week founder Lauran Smith.

Neighborhood residents looking to participate in the trivia competition or experience West Loop's diverse culinary scene are encouraged to visit Taste 222 and other participating restaurants before the celebration ends. The event, which coincides with the 100th anniversary of what eventually became Black History Month, continues to strengthen community bonds while highlighting Black entrepreneurship in Chicago's dynamic food scene.
