NBCUniversal has debuted its brand-new, state-of-the-art broadcast studios inside NBC Tower at 455 Cityfront Plaza Drive, and the transformation is turning heads across Chicago's media world. Chicago YIMBY recently toured the completed space, revealing a stunning overhaul executed by Clune Construction that centers on a sprawling shared newsroom anchored by a dramatic multi-story screen displaying live breaking news and tracking field teams in real time.

The revamped facility now houses five new production studios — including two large dedicated spaces for NBC 5 and Telemundo — all equipped with automated cameras operated from centralized control rooms. The upgrade also includes 20 camera-ready locations scattered across the office floor, meaning segments can be filmed virtually anytime, anywhere in the space. In a first for the NBC family, the Chicago station has gone fully cloud-based, eliminating the need for an entire floor of servers and enabling cross-country access to Chicago's film library.
