Bronzeville Winery and The Silver Room Unite for 'A Film Called Black' Exhibition This February

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Bronzeville ·

Two of Bronzeville's most beloved cultural anchors have joined forces for a bold new creative experience. 'A Film Called Black,' a photography and film exhibition featuring the work of artists cam be and neak, opened February 13 at a dual-venue showcase spanning The Silver Room and Bronzeville Winery, and runs through March 13. The exhibition was curated by Paul Branton, the same celebrated Bronzeville arts figure behind the 'Bending Light' show at the South Side Community Art Center.

The collaboration between The Silver Room — the iconic Hyde Park/Bronzeville hybrid retail space and cultural hub founded by Eric Williams — and Bronzeville Winery at 4420 S. Cottage Grove Avenue signals a growing momentum for South Side creative partnerships. By splitting the exhibition across two community gathering spaces, organizers are inviting visitors to experience the work in living, breathing environments rather than traditional gallery walls, deepening the connection between art, community, and everyday life.

With Black History Month in full swing, 'A Film Called Black' offers Bronzeville residents a rare chance to engage with contemporary Black visual storytelling just steps from home. Whether you're a longtime art enthusiast or simply curious, this is a can't-miss cultural moment on the South Side. Stop by The Silver Room or Bronzeville Winery before March 13 to experience it for yourself.
