We Grow Chicago Coalition Unites West Englewood Neighbors Around the Peace Campus This Winter

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Englewood ·

A powerful community coalition is quietly strengthening the fabric of West Englewood this winter — and residents are invited to be part of it. We Grow Chicago (WGC), a trusted community-based coalition rooted in the neighborhood's iconic Peace Campus, is bringing together some of the South Side's most respected organizations under one unified mission: empowering West Englewood families to go from surviving to thriving.

Led by Imagine Englewood If in partnership with Growing Home, Grow Greater Englewood, Teamwork Englewood, and Metropolitan Family Services, WGC strategically aligns programs, services, and advocacy efforts across the 16-property Peace Campus block. The coalition connects residents with immediate basic needs support, family social services, empowerment programs, skill-building classes, and community connection — all in one neighborhood-rooted hub. WGC's longer-term vision is equally ambitious: to establish the Peace Campus as a scalable, place-based model for uplifting Black and Brown communities that can be replicated across Chicago and beyond.

Through its annual signature events — Greater Englewood Unity Day, Peace Fest, and the Share The Love WinterFest — the coalition keeps neighbors connected year-round. West Englewood residents looking to plug in can visit imagineenglewoodif.org to learn about partner organizations, upcoming events, and how to get involved with the We Grow Chicago movement this season.
