West Town's Spring Social Scene Heats Up: Bar Bambi Opens Its Doors and Restaurant Week Is Almost Here

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Town ·

West Town is kicking off March in style with two back-to-back reasons to get out and celebrate the neighborhood's vibrant food and drink scene. First, craft cocktail lovers have a sparkling new destination to discover: Bar Bambi has officially opened at 1703 W. Chicago Ave. The whimsical new bar is the debut solo venture of veteran Chicago bartender Katie Renshaw, who honed her craft at legendary spots including The Aviary, Billy Sunday, and GreenRiver. Bar Bambi pairs an inventive cocktail program — featuring modern twists on classics, champagne, and natural wines — with elevated bar snacks from a full kitchen, all wrapped in a striking interior designed by Gensler. Renshaw has also spoken openly about her goal of mentoring the next generation of Chicago bartenders, making Bar Bambi a true community investment as much as a night out.

And the neighborhood's culinary momentum doesn't stop there. The West Town Chamber of Commerce has officially announced the third annual West Town Restaurant Week, running March 21–29, 2026. The nine-day celebration invites locals and visitors to explore the neighborhood's acclaimed dining corridor, with participating spots including Pizza Friendly Pizza on Western Ave., Sportsman's Club, Standing Passengers on Chicago Ave., and SUGOi Sweets on Ashland Ave., each offering special menus and deals crafted for the occasion.

Whether you're toasting a new cocktail at Bar Bambi or working your way through Restaurant Week's special offerings, now is the perfect time to support West Town's incredible local businesses. Check out westtownchamber.org for the full list of Restaurant Week participants and get your reservations in early!
