Pups, Public Art & $200K: McKinley Park Is Investing in Its Streets and Its Furry Residents
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Mckinley Park ·
McKinley Park residents have plenty of reasons to celebrate this weekend — and tonight, the neighborhood's four-legged friends are taking center stage. The McKinley Dog Park Fund-Raiser runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. this Saturday, March 7, at Chipotle, 3125 S. Ashland Ave. Supporters can show the event poster in-store or use code 6PZL78M when ordering to direct a portion of proceeds toward keeping the beloved local dog park thriving. It's a feel-good way to grab dinner and give back to one of McKinley Park's most popular community green spaces — all in one stop.
And the good news for the neighborhood doesn't stop there. The McKinley Park Development Council recently announced a major $200,000 grant from The Chicago Community Trust to revitalize the West 35th Street business corridor. The funds will bring public art installations, new street seating, and trash cans to the strip, while special matchmaking events will connect local business and property owners directly with mural artists. The first new artwork is slated to go up in summer 2026, with the full project running through fall 2027 — and remaining funds will be paid directly to the artists themselves.
From dog-friendly fundraisers to a beautified main street, McKinley Park is building a neighborhood that's vibrant, welcoming, and full of local heart. Head to Chipotle on Ashland tonight, and keep an eye on mpdcchicago.org for updates on how local artists can get involved in the 35th Street transformation.
