Greater Englewood Chamber of Commerce Launches Free Solar Training & Small Business Finance Programs This Spring

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Englewood ·

West Englewood residents and aspiring entrepreneurs have two powerful new opportunities on their doorstep this spring, courtesy of the Greater Englewood Chamber of Commerce (GECC). The organization is rolling out a pair of free programs designed to put real economic power — and green-energy careers — directly into the hands of community members.

First up, GECC is launching a free Solar Installation Training Program open to Englewood residents aged 21 and older, kicking off April 1, 2026. The 10-week cohort delivers hands-on skills, NABCEP certification prep, industry site visits, and direct job placement support — positioning West Englewood as a front-runner in Chicago's clean energy economy. Complementing that initiative, GECC is also offering 'Basic Financials for Business: Money Moves for Makers,' a free four-part training series running April 21–25 at mHUB (1623 W. Fulton St.) that helps small business owners and makers turn their finances into a genuine growth engine. Together, these programs connect directly to GECC's larger vision of transforming Englewood's 69th Street corridor into a hub for tech, clean energy, and commerce — including the planned Emerald development and a new Innovation Hub.

West Englewood residents ready to launch a solar career or sharpen their business skills are encouraged to register now at gechamber.com before spots fill up. Spring 2026 is shaping up to be a season of real opportunity in Greater Englewood.
