Stitch, Snack, and Plan Ahead: Rogers Park Is Buzzing With Community Spirit This March
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Rogers Park ·
Rogers Park is giving residents plenty of reasons to gather, create, and look forward to warmer days. The Chicago Knitting Authority is hosting its annual Knit for Food Knit-A-Thon 2026 — a 12-hour knitting marathon where crafters of all skill levels come together to raise funds and awareness for food insecurity. One hundred percent of the funds raised are split equally between Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, No Kid Hungry, and Meals on Wheels, making every stitch count twice: once for community connection, and once for neighbors in need across the country.
Looking ahead to summer, Rogers Park's beloved Glenwood Avenue Arts Fest has officially confirmed its 2026 dates of August 14–16, giving art lovers something to circle on their calendars. Nestled along the cobblestone streets of the Glenwood Avenue Arts District at Morse Avenue, the community-organized festival showcases over 100 artist booths, open studios, live entertainment across outdoor stages, street food, and craft beer from local merchants. It remains one of Chicago's rare festivals where attendees can engage directly with the creators behind the work.
From yarn to fine art, Rogers Park continues to prove it's a neighborhood where creativity and community go hand in hand. Stop by the Chicago Knitting Authority for the Knit-A-Thon, and mark your summer calendar for GAAF.
