Stages, Stories & Suds: Edgewater's Arts Scene and Business Community Gear Up for a Big Week

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Edgewater ·

Edgewater's cultural and community calendars are packed this week, giving neighbors plenty of reason to get out and connect.

First, theater lovers have a date to mark: the Edgewater Historical Society's beloved monthly Salon series returns on Thursday, March 26, this time shining a spotlight on City Lit Theatre — one of Chicago's premier literary theater companies. The free evening event, held at 6 p.m. at the Edgewater Historical Society, continues a cherished tradition of connecting neighbors with the rich performing arts community right in their own backyard. Whether you're a longtime theater enthusiast or just curious about what City Lit is all about, it's a welcoming, no-cost night out.

Meanwhile, the Edgewater business community is gathering momentum of its own. The Edgewater Chamber of Commerce has announced its next networking event, set to be held at Beard & Belly — a neighborhood favorite. The event is open to everyone, with tickets at

0 for Chamber members and $25 for non-members. It's a perfect opportunity to meet local business owners, discover new spots in the neighborhood, and invest in Edgewater's thriving independent economy. And on the development front, a bold new vision is taking shape at 5959 N. Sheridan Road, where Emanuel Congregation's lakefront synagogue could be reimagined as a striking 12-story mixed-use building featuring a new house of worship, apartments, and possibly a café.

From curtain calls to cocktails to a skyline-shaping proposal, Edgewater's week is full of energy. Visit edgewater.org for Chamber event details and check the Edgewater Historical Society for Salon info.
