A Cup of Love: Brothers Open Dot's Cafe in Roscoe Village, Named After Their 100-Year-Old Grandma
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Roscoe Village ·
Roscoe Village is about to get its next great gathering place — and the story behind it is as warm as the coffee it'll serve. Two brothers, Michael and Rob Young, are putting the finishing touches on Dot's Cafe, a new neighborhood coffee shop coming to 2000 W. Addison Street, at the corner of N. Damen Avenue and Addison Street.
The cafe's name is a heartfelt tribute: it's named after the brothers' grandmother, affectionately nicknamed 'Dot,' who celebrated her 100th birthday last year and has a lifelong love of coffee and good company. With a building permit already issued by the city and construction actively progressing, co-owner Michael Young told What Now Chicago he hopes to welcome the neighborhood through the doors in about five weeks. The brothers' vision is refreshingly simple and deeply human — to create a space that mirrors the warmth and joy their grandmother brings to every room she enters. As they shared on Instagram, they wanted 'a space where friends and family can gather to enjoy a cup of coffee, to be together, to enjoy the simple pleasures that add up a life well lived.'
It's exactly the kind of story Roscoe Village loves to celebrate — a family-rooted, community-first business planting its flag on a beloved corner of the 'Village Within the City.' Keep an eye on their Instagram @_dotscafe for menu sneak peeks and an opening date announcement. Spring is coming, and Dot's Cafe is almost ready to pour.
