Ravenswood Just Hosted the Midwest's Wildest Cat Convention — and the Neighborhood's Biggest Art Weekend Is Already on the Horizon
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Ravenswood ·
If you happened to stroll past Artifact Events at 4325 N. Ravenswood Ave. this past weekend, you may have done a double take — and yes, that really was someone walking in with their cat. POP Cats™ Chicago made its triumphant return to Ravenswood for its fifth year, transforming the beloved event space into an immersive, feline-themed wonderland on Saturday and Sunday. The one-of-a-kind convention featured artistically designed environments, hands-on workshops, local cat-inspired makers and artists, a Cat Art Museum, and even a Punk Cats Cattoo Parlor — all under one roof. And in a twist you won't find at any other Midwest cat event, attendees were actually welcome to bring their own cats along for the fun (with guidelines, naturally).
It's exactly the kind of joyfully offbeat, community-driven event that makes Ravenswood such a special place to live — and a reminder that Artifact Events continues to be one of the North Side's most versatile and vibrant gathering spots.
Looking further ahead, Ravenswood's creative community has even more to celebrate: the annual Ravenswood ArtWalk (RAW) Tour of Arts and Industry is returning September 13th and 14th, 11 AM to 6 PM. Stretching along Ravenswood Ave from Lawrence south to Irving Park, RAW promises open studios, pop-up performances, a 60+ maker outdoor arts market, two stages of live music, a pop-up beer garden, kids' activities, and food trucks. Mark your calendars now and visit ravenswoodchicago.org to stay plugged into all the neighborhood happenings.
