Girl Scout Cookie Blitz at Fair Share Finer Foods Raises the Bar — and the Spirits — in Garfield Ridge
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Garfield Ridge ·
A simple act of neighborhood solidarity turned into one of Garfield Ridge's most feel-good moments of the season. When it became clear that a young Girl Scout named Estelle was chasing a 500-box sales goal to earn a coveted Cookie Cruise ticket, the girls of St. Sym's Troop 26186 hatched a plan: donate 100% of the credit from their cookie sale to Estelle and her Daisy Troop 25597.
The sale took place Sunday, March 1, right outside Fair Share Finer Foods at 63rd and Narragansett — a beloved neighborhood anchor. What followed was pure Garfield Ridge magic. Men, women, children, and even firefighters from the CFD firehouse at 56th and Narragansett showed up hungry to help. By the end of the afternoon, the troop had sold 596 boxes — far exceeding Estelle's 500-box goal. The remaining cookie credit will go to Daisy Troop 25597, with hopes that at least one more girl can join Estelle on the Cookie Cruise.
"[Selling Girl Scout cookies on behalf of Estelle] was an easy decision," said Troop 26186 leader Karen Kielbasa. It's the kind of story that reminds us why Garfield Ridge is such a special place to call home. Want to support local Girl Scout troops?
