Art Is Alive on the Northwest Side: Jefferson Park's Milwaukee Avenue Becomes an Outdoor Gallery with the NW Art Trail
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Jefferson Park ·
Jefferson Park has a brand-new reason to take a stroll down Milwaukee Avenue — and it's something you can enjoy any day of the week, completely free. The Northwest Art Trail, a vibrant public art experience featuring more than ten stunning sculptures along N. Milwaukee Avenue, has become one of the neighborhood's most exciting recent additions, connecting Jefferson Park and Portage Park in a living, breathing outdoor gallery right on the Northwest Side.
The trail — championed with support from Arts Alive Chicago and State Sen. Robert Martwick — winds past neighborhood favorites, putting world-class public art steps from local shops, cafes, and transit stops. And Jefferson Park's arts scene doesn't stop at the sidewalk: the neighborhood is also home to The Gift Theatre at 4802 N. Milwaukee Ave., an acclaimed, Jeff Award-winning professional ensemble theatre known for honest, boundary-pushing storytelling and deep community roots on the Northwest Side.
Meanwhile, spring programming at Jefferson Memorial Park just kicked off this week — with most Chicago Park District programs running March 30 through June 7 — giving families even more ways to get outside and get involved. Whether you're discovering sculptures along Milwaukee Avenue, catching a show at The Gift Theatre, or signing the kids up for spring activities at the fieldhouse, Jefferson Park's arts and community calendar is as full as ever. Check out the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce and the Chicago Park District for the latest programming details!
