Bucktown's April Is Looking Artsy and Green: A New Gallery Show and Community Fest Are Right Around the Corner
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Bucktown ·
Spring has arrived in Bucktown, and the neighborhood is marking the season with a pair of can't-miss community happenings just days away. First up: ENGAGE Projects, the beloved Bucktown gallery at 1912 N. Damen Ave., is opening a brand-new exhibition this week. Titled "Moonlight: Out of the Chaos" and curated by Nora Schneider, the show runs April 10 through May 3 — with a public opening reception on Thursday, April 9 from 5 to 9 p.m. The gallery will also be open by appointment and on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. True to ENGAGE Projects' mission of making art accessible to everyone, this is a rare chance to experience fresh, thoughtful work right in the heart of the neighborhood.
Then on Saturday, April 11, the energy shifts outdoors for the Wicker Park Green Fest — a family-friendly celebration of sustainability running from noon to 3 p.m. in Wicker Park, just a short stroll from Bucktown's own backyard. The fest brings together sustainability-focused vendors, live music, and hands-on activities, making it a perfect outing for neighbors of all ages who care about the environment and community connection.
Whether you're an art enthusiast, an eco-conscious family, or simply looking for a reason to get outside this weekend, Bucktown and its neighboring blocks are delivering. Mark your calendar, bring a friend, and make the most of what's shaping up to be a vibrant April on the North Side.
