Game On, Hyde Park! Logan Center's 'Builders & Battlers' Day Celebrates Pokémon, LEGO & Minecraft This Saturday

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Hyde Park ·

Hyde Park families have a seriously fun reason to head out this Saturday — and it involves Pokémon, LEGO, and Minecraft. The Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th St., is hosting Logan Family Saturday: 'Builders and Battlers!' today from 2 to 4 p.m., a free, hands-on afternoon celebration for families with children ages 2 to 12. The event is part of the University of Chicago's exciting 'Year of Games' initiative, and promises a packed afternoon of creative activities and supplies for all ages — no controllers required.

And the fun doesn't stop there. Earlier today at the Logan Center, a special film screening of the 1988 queer classic 'Virgin Machine,' presented in partnership with Court Theatre, brought cinephiles together for a thought-provoking evening of shorts and filmmaker discussion — proof that the Logan Center continues to be one of Hyde Park's most versatile cultural anchors.

Looking even further ahead on the Hyde Park calendar: the beloved Hyde Park Jazz Festival returns September 26–27, 2026, with its signature free outdoor and indoor stages celebrating Chicago-style jazz roots throughout the neighborhood. Hyde Park's cultural calendar is absolutely stacked in 2026 — head to logancenter.uchicago.edu to learn more about today's family programming, and mark your fall calendars for jazz season!
