First, dessert lovers take note: The Bougie Foodie, the cult-favorite Texas-born pastry concept founded by chef and entrepreneur Brianna Cryar, is landing its very first Chicago location this April right in Fulton Market. The shop — known for its oversized cookies, scratch-made dessert bars, and family-recipe bread pudding — will set up at 210 N. Carpenter St., tucked into the ground floor of Google's West Loop offices. Expect showstoppers like the Choco Chip Cookie Mountain and Mimi's Boozy Bread Pudding with brandy sauce, plus rotating weekend specials. Meanwhile, just steps from acclaimed Elske, husband-and-wife chef duo David and Anna Posey have quietly debuted a charming new neo-bistro in the West Loop, featuring lilac and gold tilework, vintage Danish seating, and a shareable menu blending Midwestern seasonal ingredients with French bistro flair — think Parisian gnocchi with gruyère and warm brie gougères.
And on the development front, two new residential buildings from Continuum Real Estate Brokers and Chicago Common Construction are rising fast side by side near Desplaines Street. At 629 W. Lake, exterior brickwork is already underway, while 135 N. Desplaines — a nine-story, 50-unit building replacing a former parking lot — has reached its second floor with a ground-floor retail space planned. Both projects are designed by Axios Architects and could welcome residents as soon as late 2027.
