Bricks, Riverwalk & Black Tie at Wrigley: Lake View Is Building Something Big This Spring
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Lake View ·
Lake View's built environment is getting a serious springtime glow-up — and the community is celebrating in style. On the development front, two notable projects are turning heads across the neighborhood. A renovation permit was just issued for a project at 919 W. Sheridan, where a 122-year-old building is set to receive a four-story addition, breathing new life into one of the neighborhood's most storied structures. Meanwhile, over in West Lakeview, plans are moving forward to build 35 townhomes north of Lathrop Homes — and in a major bonus for pedestrians and outdoor lovers, the project includes a public riverwalk extension that would expand the neighborhood's beloved waterway access.
On the celebration side, the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce is hosting its Annual Meeting inside the iconic 1914 Club at Wrigley Field — an evening of networking, community pride, and the Lakeview East Business Awards, honoring the local leaders who make the neighborhood thrive. Tickets include two cocktail passes and ballpark bites, making it one of the North Side's most unique business nights of the year.
And art lovers, mark your calendars: the Lakeview East Festival of the Arts is returning to Broadway, showcasing over 125 juried artists across paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry, and more — an event rated the #1 Fine Arts Festival in Chicago. With construction cranes, riverwalk dreams, and black-tie Wrigley nights all on the spring docket, Lake View is firing on all cylinders.
