Bucktown Is Getting Two New Gyms This Summer — and They're Built for the Whole Community
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Bucktown ·
Bucktown's already-thriving fitness scene is about to get a major boost. Two brand-new gyms are gearing up to open in the neighborhood this summer, each with a distinct vision — and together, they signal just how much Bucktown continues to attract passionate, community-minded entrepreneurs.
First up: Bucktown Assembly, taking shape inside the former Armitage Auto Repair at 2036 W. Armitage Ave. Trainer and coach Ashley Stephen and business partner Erik Nelson are transforming the space into an expansive strength training and HYROX workout facility, complete with refurbished interior brick walls, squat racks, cardio machines, and a brand-new locker room. The name says it all — Stephen and Nelson want their gym to double as a neighborhood gathering place where residents hang out before and after breaking a sweat. Meanwhile, a second newcomer called More Than Fit is also getting ready to debut nearby, offering classes specifically designed for youth athletes, new moms, and people of all fitness levels. Owner Scott says he's actively building partnerships with Chicago schools and nonprofits to make the space a true community training hub for everyone from busy professionals to student athletes.
With both gyms targeting a summer opening, Bucktown neighbors will soon have even more ways to stay active, meet their neighbors, and train with purpose. Keep an eye on Bucktown Assembly and More Than Fit for opening announcements — and start clearing space in your schedule!
