Wrigleyville's Clark Street Corridor Keeps Growing: Portillo's Is Coming and Panda Express Already Arrived
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Wrigleyville ·
Wrigleyville neighbors, the stretch of Clark Street near the Friendly Confines keeps getting more delicious — and two national names are behind the latest buzz.
First, the big one: Chicago's own Portillo's is heading to Wrigleyville. The Oak Brook-based Italian beef institution is soliciting construction bids for a buildout at 3519 N. Clark St., part of the Addison & Clark mixed-use complex, in the former 7-Eleven space. It would be only the fourth Portillo's location within Chicago's city limits — and one of the most centrally located, right on the main strip that draws crowds year-round. A Portillo's spokesperson confirmed they plan to share updates as details become available, so stay tuned for what could be a major game-day dining anchor for the neighborhood.
Meanwhile, Panda Express has already made its Wrigleyville debut. The nation's largest American-Chinese fast-casual chain quietly opened its doors at 1027 W. Addison St. earlier this spring with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and special gifts for early customers. The new location features a striking East-meets-West design, complete with a moon gate portal, Chinatown-inspired signage, and red lanterns — a standout look for Addison Street. Hours run Sunday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
With Portillo's on the horizon and Panda Express already serving neighbors, Wrigleyville's dining corridor is becoming one of the most exciting blocks in all of Chicago. Keep an eye on the Addison & Clark complex for Portillo's construction updates — and in the meantime, swing by Panda Express to check out that moon gate!
