Irving Park's Mother's Day Hop Returns — and a New 5-Story Mixed-Use Building Is Breaking Ground This Month
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Irving Park ·
Spring is in full bloom in Irving Park, and the neighborhood has not one but two exciting milestones to celebrate this month. First, Explore Irving Park Chicago (EIPC) is gearing up for its 3rd Annual Mother's Day Hop, a community-wide celebration that brings together local small businesses to honor moms, mother figures, and families across the neighborhood. The beloved event, now in its third year, is a testament to how EIPC has grown into one of Irving Park's most energetic community connectors — uniting residents and local merchants in joyful, grassroots celebration.
On the development front, April also marks the anticipated construction start for an exciting new mixed-use building at 3007 W. Irving Park Road. Planned by Lukaven Development and designed by Thomas Architects, the proposed 5-story building would bring 20 new residential units and approximately 2,800 square feet of ground-floor retail space to the corridor, along with 15 parking spaces and 20 bike spots. The upper floors would feature two-bedroom apartments with private balconies — a welcome addition to Irving Park's growing housing stock. The developer is targeting completion by April 2027.
From neighborhood hops celebrating community bonds to fresh residential investment rising along Irving Park Road, the neighborhood is buzzing with positive momentum this spring.
