West Town Is Getting Its Very First Farmers Market This Summer — and It Needs Your Help to Make It Happen

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Town ·

West Town neighbors, mark your Saturdays: a brand-new farmers market is coming to one of the neighborhood's most beloved green spaces this summer, and it's shaping up to be a community staple for years to come. The inaugural Eckhart Park Farmers Market will launch on June 6 at Eckhart Park, 1330 W. Chicago Ave., running every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through September 19 — making it West Town's only farmers market.

Organized by volunteers with the Eckhart Park Advisory Council, the market already has about 15 vendors on board — including bakers, a horchata vendor, and taco options — but organizers are still actively seeking produce farmers and additional merchants ahead of their May 1 vendor application deadline. Lead organizer and West Town neighbor Mark Litton says produce is the biggest priority right now, but the vision goes well beyond groceries. Each Saturday will feature an 'X factor' program — think yoga sessions, live music, bouncy houses, and even magicians — to make every visit a little special.

This is a rare chance to be part of something truly new for West Town from the very beginning. Whether you're a local farmer, a small food business, or simply a neighbor who wants to show up and shop, the Eckhart Park Farmers Market wants you. Vendor applications are open until May 1 — reach out to the Eckhart Park Advisory Council to get involved before spots fill up!
