Pages, Seeds & Music: Edgewater Branch Library Is Having Its Best Year Yet — And Neighbors Are Invited
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Edgewater ·
There's a lot to celebrate at the Edgewater Branch Library right now — and the community is being invited to join in at every turn. The Friends of the Edgewater Library (FOEL) are marking a major milestone in 2026: their 35th Anniversary. To honor the occasion, FOEL has already made a generous gift to help refresh and expand the library's collection, and neighbors can pitch in through the "Befriend A Book" campaign by donating $35 (or any amount) to help keep the shelves stocked. The group is also continuing its beloved book-giving program in partnership with Women & Children First bookstore, where library patrons can pick up a free book right at the first-floor self-service checkout.
And the library's programming calendar is equally exciting this spring. On Saturday, April 25, the Edgewater Community Music Jam returns — a welcoming, all-levels session open to acoustic musicians, singers, and even curious listeners. The library is also hosting a Seed Library swap event, where neighbors can pick up starter plants, trade seeds, and help package seeds for the Edgewater Seed Library — a wonderfully hands-on way to grow community. Best of all, the Edgewater Branch is now open on Sundays from 1–5 p.m., making it easier than ever to stop in.
Whether you're a bookworm, a gardener, or a musician, your neighborhood library has something blooming for you this spring. Visit chipublib.org or foelchicago.org to get involved and support 35 years of Edgewater's literary heart!
