Rising Up on Lawrence: Albany Park's New 41-Unit Building Takes Shape — and a Free Kids' Event Is Coming This Weekend
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Albany Park ·
Albany Park's skyline is quietly getting a little taller — and that's a very good thing. Construction is visibly progressing on Lawrence Gateway, a brand-new five-story, 41-unit residential development at 2923 W. Lawrence Avenue. According to a fresh report from Chicago YIMBY published April 20th, the concrete masonry stair and elevator cores have fully topped out, and general contractor LG Group is now laying the first level of the structure using cinder blocks. When complete, the building will bring 41 new homes to the neighborhood, parking for 19 cars and 41 bicycles, and — perhaps most excitingly — approximately 7,600 square feet of ground-floor retail space that could soon welcome new businesses right onto Albany Park's main commercial corridor.
Designed by architecture firm Wight & Company and developed by MAS Ventures, Lawrence Gateway represents exactly the kind of transit-accessible, mixed-use investment Albany Park has been ready for. And while the neighborhood watches that building rise, there's a fun, free reason to head to the Albany Park Branch Library (3401 W. Foster Ave.) this Saturday, April 25th: WTTW Kids Learn & Play, a free, in-person participatory learning event for preschoolers hosted by WTTW Kids' host Cristian, is coming to the branch. The interactive session is free but requires an RSVP.
From new construction on Lawrence to free family fun at the library, Albany Park is making it easy to stay engaged this spring. Head to chicagoyimby.com for the latest on Lawrence Gateway, and RSVP for the WTTW Kids event at wttw.com — your neighborhood has plenty going on!
