Pilsen's Brightpoint El Hogar Del Niño Teams Up with Nourishing Hope to Bring Groceries Directly to Families in Need
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Pilsen ·
A heartwarming new partnership is making a real difference for Pilsen families this spring. Brightpoint El Hogar Del Niño, the neighborhood's beloved early childhood center, has launched a brand-new grocery distribution service in collaboration with Nourishing Hope, a West Town-based food pantry and social services nonprofit. The initiative, which kicked off Friday, April 24, allows families enrolled in El Hogar's Head Start program to conveniently pick up boxes of fresh groceries directly from the Pilsen facility — no extra trip across town required.
The timing couldn't be more meaningful. The partnership was born in response to recent changes to SNAP benefits that have made it harder for some immigrant families to access food assistance. Nourishing Hope brings its innovative online ordering system to the table, letting families browse and select items just like a grocery store — then pick up a pre-packed box. Food is sourced from the Greater Chicagoland Food Depository, local grocery store partnerships, and direct purchases, ensuring a reliable and varied supply. For families like Wendy Carolina Benitez Duran's — whose 4-year-old son Andres attends El Hogar — the service is a genuine lifeline.
This is Pilsen community care at its finest: neighbors and organizations stepping up together when families need it most. To learn more about Brightpoint El Hogar Del Niño's programs or to connect with local resources, reach out through Pilsen Neighbors Community Council at pilsenneighbors.org.
