West Town's Newest Community Hub Is Part Coworking Space, Part 'Cultural Living Room' — and It's Opening This Month

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Town ·

West Town is about to get one of its most distinctive new gathering spots yet. The Space Together, a coworking hub and community wellness destination, is set to open in the coming weeks at 1727 W. Grand Ave. — and it's unlike anything else in the neighborhood.

The brainchild of Laura Lusson and Daryn Schwartz — the co-owners of The Space Between yoga studio — The Space Together has taken over most of the second floor above the Center of Order and Experimentation. With the help of designer Jarod Sabatino, the airy space has been divided into a main coworking and event area, a kitchen, and a dedicated 'deep focus room' for concentrated work or meditation. The concept goes well beyond a typical desk-and-WiFi setup: mornings kick off with wellness rituals like sound healing, breathwork, and journaling, afternoons open up for focused coworking, and evenings give way to community programming — from workshops and lectures to dinner parties — organized around four pillars: practice, learn, belong, and gather. Memberships and day passes will both be available, and members are encouraged to host their own events too.

With Do Division Street Festival also locked in for May 29–31 on Division Street between Damen and Leavitt — featuring two live music stages programmed by The Empty Bottle and Subterranean — May is shaping up to be a landmark month for West Town. Check The Space Together's website for membership details and opening day announcements, and grab your spot at Do Division before the summer heat sets in!
