Pilsen's Iconic Geraghty Venue Goes Suburban as Neighborhood's Summer Food Festival Season Heats Up

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Pilsen ·

Pilsen is making its mark well beyond 18th Street this spring. Kehoe Designs — the creative force behind the beloved Pilsen-based Geraghty event venue — has announced plans for a second outpost called The Geraghty North, a brand-new 45,000-square-foot event space planned for Glenview. The expansion is a testament to the reputation The Geraghty has built since Kehoe Designs began operating the Pilsen original in 2015, drawing clients from across the Chicago region who have long pushed for a North Shore location. The new venue is designed for up to 600 guests and is targeted to open in spring 2027, pending local approvals — a major milestone for a homegrown Pilsen success story going regional.

Back in the neighborhood, summer is already looking delicious. Tacos y Tamales returns to Pilsen July 17–19, 2026, inviting food lovers to taste their way through the neighborhood's vibrant Hispanic cuisine scene in an event modeled after a traditional Mexican market. Expect authentic street food, live music, dance performances, local vendors, and public art all within walking distance of Pilsen's iconic murals and storefronts. And just a week later, Fiesta del Sol runs July 23–26 for its 54th anniversary, keeping Pilsen's calendar packed all summer long.

Whether you're cheering on a neighborhood institution going big or counting down the days to taco season, Pilsen's community spirit is alive and thriving. Follow summer festival updates at choosechicago.com and stay connected with your neighbors at pilsenneighbors.org.
